About Me

I first got my taste of the birth world in 2013. I had started working as a Office Manager at a local birth center. I knew very shortly that  birth work was my calling. I had found myself listening to mothers in labor, wondering how I could support the partners as they paced. I took my DONA Doula training 4 months later, I have never looked back.

I now continue my work as a doula, but have also expanded my own family! My husband Justin and I, welcomed Opal Lee, October 2017. After experiencing birth, I now feel I am able to help support families even more.

We are a true Duluth family. We enjoy spending time outdoors, on the trails and on the water. Opal, definitely makes things a bit more interesting, but we are figuring it out!

My Philosophy

Nurturing, passion, and knowledge. Those 3 words are what I wish to give to each and every one of my families. I believe in supporting moms, partners, and children in all aspects during their time of preparation for birth, all the way through their postpartum period. Each and every pregnancy is different which brings up new conversations and decisions. I will help support you and find the resources you may need.

As your doula I will offer a nurturing presence and make the birth of your child as special as possible. I am a firm  believer that laughter and love are very important to the birth process, but I am equally comfortable with the power of silence. I will help provide clear communication with medical staff to help embrace the vision you have for this birth. Every birth has a bit of adversity and I will be there every step of the way.

“Thanks to Mo’s love, encouragement, and skills I had a truly amazing birth”.
“I would recommend Monita, as a doula to anyone. She was a powerful and essential component in two of the most important, transforming days of my life.”
